3 Weeks In The African Wilderness
Day 1
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be greeted by your expert guides who will be at your side for the duration of your stay. Your luggage will be retrieved and you will be taken swiftly to the awaiting helicopter for a scenic flip and transfer to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where you will be greeted with champagne and snacks. From there your hosts will drive you to your Clifton Beach Villa to settle in and change for a private chef dinner on the patio.
Day 2
After a sumptuous breakfast your hosts will take you on a scenic drive to all the must-see places in Cape Town, such as Table Mountain, Cape Peninsula and Hout Bay. You will have a wonderfully opulent picnic along the famous Chapman’s Peak road with breath taking views. On return to your villa there will be a chance to enjoy the beach for the afternoon culminating in a sunset cocktail hour, after which you can freshen up while your private chef prepares a Seafood extravaganza dinner.
Day 3
After a stomach lining breakfast you will be chauffeured to the V&A Waterfront where you will board a ferry to Robben Island to visit the cell that housed Nelson Mandela for 27 years, on return you will be collected by helicopter for a flight into the heart of the winelands, Franschhoek, where you will hop on the wine tram and spend the day visiting a host of the award-winning wineries of the area including a picturesque picnic lunch. The helicopter will be standing by to fly you back to the V&A Waterfront and head back to your luxury beach villa for a night under the stars with a romantic dinner on the beach.
Day 4
After breakfast your luggage will be transported to the Cape Town International Airport whilst you once again jump on a helicopter for the short flight to avoid the pesky traffic. From Cape Town you will fly first class to King Shaka International airport in Durban. From the airport you will be shuttled in a luxury vehicle to St. Lucia where you will have a chance to experience the beauty that is the Isimangaliso Wetland Park. This will include a snorkel on one of SA’s best reefs.
Day 5 & 6
You will be transferred by luxury vehicle to Hluhluwe Nature Reserve for two days of mind blowing Big 5 encounters as well spa treatments to ease those weary travel bodies. There are numerous options for animal viewing experiences including a bush walk. You can also visit a Zulu community for a peak into a day in the life of.
Day 7 - 10
After yet another early morning Game Drive to say goodbye to the Big 5 (for now) you will be transferred in a luxury vehicle back to the King Shaka International Airport for a short flight to Pretoria where upon arrival you will be chauffeured to the glorious Rovos railway station to board one of their 5 star trains for an epic 4 day journey up to Victoria Falls. This is a beautiful way to see some of the countryside and make your way up to Victoria Falls in style.
Day 10 & 11
After a day admiring the grandeur of the Victoria Falls you will board a fast jet to Maun in Botswana, here you will transfer onto another private flight to Zafara Camp on the edge of the Okovango Delta where you will be once again surrounded by the African bush and wild animals. With two game drives a day and plenty of down time your soul will feel restored in no time.
Day 12 & 13
From Zafara Camp you will be whisked by helicopter to the heart of the Okovango Delta to Duma Camp where you can catch a glimpse of the infamous Buffalo hunting Lions.
Day 14
Off to Namibia you jet to spend a luscious night in civilization in the capital city of Windhoek.
Day 15
You will be guided to your flight to Sossusvlei airstrip. After welcome drink and orientation you will have time to relax. High tea followed by a afternoon desert drive. In the morning and evening light the floor of the pan has been described as a “moonscape” and is truly a sight to behold.
Day 16
After a light, early breakfast you will head out into the National Park. Your 1. stop is Dune no. 45. Visitors are allowed to climb Dune 45, so be sure to visit early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the vlei from the top of the Dune. The Dune is 85 meters high and the climb is well worth the effort as from the top you will be spoilt with the incredible panoramic view of Dune Valley. Your next stop is Deadvlei. Deadvlei is a clay pan characterized by dark, dead camel thorn trees contrasted against the white pan floor. The trees are estimated to be approximately 900 years old, however they have not decomposed due to the dry climate. Your last stop for the day is Sossusvlei as such, wish is a large, white, salt and clay pan and is a great destination all year round. You will have lunch out here. After returning to the lodge you have time to relax and have yet another delicious dinner and enjoy the start gazing since it is one of the best spots in the world.
Day 17
After a delicious breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Swakopmund. Here you will be transferred to the hotel. Swakopmund (German for "Mouth of the Swakop") is a city on the coast of western Namibia, 280 km (170 mi) west of Windhoek, Namibia's capital. The city is situated in the Namib desert and is the fourth largest population centre in Namibia. The rest of the day is for you decide what to do. Choose from a variety of excursions or just a leisure walk through town. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner. And the oysters are said to be very good.
Day 18
Today you can enjoy all that Swakopmund and the nearby town Walfisbay has to offer. Walvis Bay (Afrikaans Walvisbaai, German Walfischbucht or Walfischbai, all meaning "Whale Bay") is a city in Namibia and the name of the bay on which it lies. Excursions vary from living desert tour, quad bike tour, catamaran tour, fishing, to name just a few can be arranged as per your preference.
Day 19
Today takes you to the desert sands overlooking the well-known and photogenic landmarks of Dune 45, Dead Vlei and Sossusvlei. Later today you explore Sesreim Canyon and can visit Elim Dune to marvel at the splendor of an African sunset.
As you travel down the valley of the Tsauchab River you are dwarfed on either side by huge sand dunes. At times you pass close to groves of dead trees, testimony to a bygone era when there was much more water. During the drive you can hope to see oryx, the fabled desert antelope, as well as springbok, ostrich and jackal. Traveling in a 4x4 SUV affords you the luxury of being transported direct to the vleis.
Day 20
Today, depart to Kamanjab to visit the Himba tribe. Spend time, accompanied by a local Herero-speaking guide from the community, to hear the history of this sub-group, the Himba People, of the Herero Ethnic group in Namibia. Experience their cultural activities and see them dressed in traditional clothing, their continued ancient lifestyle on display.
Day 21
After a scrumptious breakfast, we return to Windhoek for your return flight home.
